I have moved a lot in my life. It has actually been over 25 times! While moving is never fun, I think I finally have it down pat. Although I don’t want to do it again anytime soon.
Here are a few tips to help you with your move.
1. Make lists
I actually enjoy making lists. It helps me stay organized and keeps my anxiety levels low during stressful times.
2. Plan out packing supplies
The last thing you want is to go back to the hardware store a million times before you move.
3. Try to find free stuff on Facebook marketplace or other free sights.
Not having to pay for bubble wrap is the best feeling.
4. Eat all your food.
I cannot stand wasted food. Make a plan to eat up all of your food before moving day.
5. Pack your suitcases
Utilize the space you already have. I have a few suitcases and I packed them with clothing before I started with my boxes.
6. Purge
Donate, sell or trash any items that you do not plan to take with you. There is always stuff to get rid of, especially before you move.
7. Leave your clothes on the hangers
If you are able to leave your clothes on the hangers, this makes unpacking super easy.
8. Use linens and towels for packing
This was so helpful for me with my glass kitchen items.
9. Put together and overnight bag
This could be an overnight bag or even a week bag. Make sure you plan for this. Knowing when you’ll be unpacking the rest of your stuff will be helpful.
10. Plan out your road trip
If you have a long drive to your new home, make sure you plan for this as well. A long playlist is such a great idea. Also a cooler with water, nuts and other snacks can be a lifesaver.
I hope my tips are helpful. And good luck with your move!
